Structures

A structure is an object made up of parts put together in a particular way.  Structures come in many shapes and sizes.  They have a wide variety of purposes. 

Examples--> bridges, dams, skyscrapers, stadiums and houses. 
system

*part of a system may change in form, but not in quantity

property
~any trait, characteristic of a living or nonliving thing
foundation ~the base on which something is supported
slab ~a broad, thick piece of concrete
roof ~the exterior surface and its supporting structures on top of a building
wall ~an upright structure that divides an area
story ~a complete horizontal division of a building, comprising the area between two adjacent levels
level ~a flat horizontal surface

arch bridge- a bridge that is supported by an arch.  The roadway can either be beneath or above the arch.
