noun ~names a person, place or thing student, school, homework
proper noun ~names a specific  person, place or thing
~begins with a capital letter
New York, Salmon River, Mrs. Merry
plural noun ~more than one person, place or thing baseballs, students, desks
adjective ~describes a noun happy, smart, kind
verb ~something you do - an action learn, draw, talk, play
adverb ~describes HOW you do something.
~usually ends in "ly".
happily, sadly, quietly
exclamation ~phrase or word that expresses astonishment or disbelief or strong emotion Wow!  Help! Awesome!
