 Types of Books Expected to Read  Evidence that the student has read each book.
Pre-K Minimum of 18 Picture books Students can repeat books read, can be nursery rhyme books, picture books, children magazines Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

K Minimum of 18 Picture books Students can repeat books read, can be nursery rhyme books, picture books, children magazines Parent has signed off as a book buddy.
1 Minimum of 18 Picture books Students can repeat books read, picture books, children magazines. First 20 weeks-parent can read to child. Last 20 weeks-child has to read to parent Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

Latchkey – buddy system.

Recess Time /Student Choice– buddy system with teacher or older student.

2 Minimum of 18 Picture books Students can repeat books read, picture books, children magazines. Students are encouraged to read every day. Students are to choose books that are one to two levels below their instructional level. Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

3 30 Easy Chapter Books Students are to read  two to three easy chapter books of atleast 70 pages and one genre book per month. Students are encouraged to read different genres, magazines, and on-line materials. Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

4 25 Chapter Books Students are to read two to three chapter books of at least 100 pages per month. One picture book per 25 books is allowed. Students are encouraged to read different genres, magazines, and on-line materials. Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

5 25 Chapter Books Students are to read two to three chapter books of at least 75 to 100 pages per month. Students are expected to read different genres through guided reading and independent reading. Read alouds count if students read parts of the book independently and pass a quiz. Parent has signed off as a book buddy.

Students are expected to write a book report or take an Accelerated Book quiz on each book they read. This counts as a grade towards the report card.

6 25 Chapter Books Students are to read two to three chapter books of at least 120 pages per month. Students are encouraged to read different genres. Parent has signed off as a book buddy.
