MATH

We use the Saxon Math program in grade 5. Students should be coming home with a blue written practice book nightly. After every five lessons, there is an assessment, or test, on the lessons taught. The Saxon program works well when students keep up their work. Every lesson practice has problems from previous lessons and a few from the new lesson. This helps keeps students practicing what they have learned all year. The Saxon program does have a web site for parents and students to go to for extra help. http://saxonpublishers.com The textbook also helps parents by listing the number of the lesson which coincides with each homework problem. That way parents can go back in the book to look up the information taught for that problem. Students will also be practicing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems with fact quizzes daily. Feel free to look through the book and ask your child about the program. If you have questions about how to help your child, e-mail me evondell@srk12.org.
