Writer's Workshop:
For our Response to Literature, we will be using the book, Pink & Say, by Patricia Polacco. This book takes place during the Civil War and integrates nicely with our curriculum in S.S. Students will identify the story elements of the book and choose a character to compare to themselves. We have been practicing comparisons in writing in preparation for the state tests.
Our last writing piece for the year will be a persuasive paragraph. Students will have to persuade me to choose them for the Student of the Month in June. The will have to give me three reasons to support the idea that they show the character trait of respect. Who will win?
